Awards

TAI has instituted following awards and recognitions. Noted industrialists have donated Shields, Mementos or Cash Awards. These Awards are conferred annually during All India Textile Conference. The Hon. Gen. Secretary is issuing the circular during the month of August of every year to all units to furnish information in a specified proforma before the end of October of that year, for Assessment of respective awards.

1. Hon. Membership :

This is conferred on Eminent Individuals for their contribution towards the growth of textile industry. First preference is given to the unit, hosting the Annual All India Textile Conference, to nominate the name for this prestigious award.

2. Hon. Fellowship of Textile Association (FTA) :

This is awarded to Eminent Scientists & Researchers for significant contribution in academic field.

OBJECT :

The object of awarding Hon. F.T.A.(Fellow of the Textile Association) is to honor and recognize the contribution made by an individual in the field of Textile Research/Textile Education/Research & Development etc. Since the main object of the Association is to promote educational activities and to work as link between Industry and Research Association/Educational Institute. It is be-fitting that eminent persons are associated with our organization.

CRITERIA :

Hon. F.T.A. Award should normally be awarded to eminent scientists, educationalists, researches or technocrats for his contribution in the field of in-plant, research & development, for promoting educational activities. Persons recommended for the award should be life/patron member of the Association.

Should have to his credit Research work, Publication of papers, presented papers in the Conferences, written or published books on in any field of textile or engaged in research worked as Honorary Editor of J.T.A. or any other technical magazines or journal.

Mode of Nomination :

The unit of Central Office can nominate suitable persons for consideration for this Award along with his bio-data and achievements listed above.

Evaluation:

The Evaluation Committee will consider the recommendation and will recommend name of one candidate for this award. Between any awards there should be a gap of minimum four years.

3. Industry Excellence Award :

This is awarded to Eminent Individual for their significant excellent contribution for the growth of textile industry those who may or may not be member of TAI. The persons to be nominated for this award could be any of the different fields or areas of textiles in India.

4. Textile Association Service Gold Medal :
(Instituted in memory of Hon. Maj. R.P. Poddar)

This is awarded to Individual members of Office Bearers in recognition of their services to the Association at national level.

 

OBJECT:
The object of awarding every year service medal is to recognize and appreciate the long and dedicated service rendered by senior member of the Association at the national level. This award is considered the highest Award of the Association which gives due honor and respect to its member and sets an example for coming generation to dedicate themselves in the service of the Association.

Criteria of Award:

  1. Recommended member should be Life/Patron member for a period of minimum 15 years.

  2. Should be a Central Office Bearers/Trustee of the Association or President of the Unit/Chairman of PAC, BPC, Hon. Editor JTA or any other similar capacity for minimum 2 terms i.e. 4 years or Governing Council member for continuous 10 years.

  3. Should have rendered valuable service. to the Association by way of promoting educational activities, membership drive, organizing Conferences, Seminars, setting up of new units, liaison with the Government, participating in the policy matters and framing rules, constitution etc., reviving weak unit, helping Association in generating finance and any other matter related in achieving aims and objectives of the Association

  4. Between any awards there should be a gap of minimum four years.

 

Mode of Nomination:

The unit or the Central Office can nominate and recommend the name of suitable person for the above award every year along with bio-data and contribution made in terms of item No.1 to item No. 4 in the prescribed Performa. The award will be given every year if suitable candidate are recommended.

Evaluation :
The Evaluation Committee will consider all the bio-data forwarded by Hon. Gen. Secretary. The evaluation committee will forward its recommendation to Hon. Gen. Secretary for approval of the Governing Council. In case evaluation committee feels that candidate who are recommended for the awards are not suitable can give its recommendation for not awarding the service medal.

In case any enquiry or misconduct charge found levied any of the members if reported by central office, then in that case his nomination will not be considered for the above award.

5. The Textile Association’s Service Mementos :
(Instituted by Shri H.A. Shah & Shri J.J. Randeri)

Two Nos. of awards are awarded to individuals for their services to the Association at Unit level.

 

OBJECT:
The object of giving these awards is to recognize the services of members rendered at the unit level. These awards are basically instituted to encourage people to render valuable service in promoting activities of the respective units. Two mementos will be awarded every year one donated by Shri H. A. Shah and another donated by Shri J. J. Randeri.

 

CRITERIA:

  1. Member should be a Life/Patron member of any unit with minimum 10 years continuous membership. Should be the member of the unit Managing Committee, Trustee, Office bearers of the unit for minimum 2 terms.

  2. Should have made significant contribution in organizing activities/Conferences

Seminars at the unit level, increasing membership of the unit, publication of newsletter, helped in improving financial health of the unit and all other matters in achieving aims and objectives of the unit of the Association, liaison with the state Government etc.

Mode of Nomination:

The unit can nominate and recommend the name of one suitable person for the above award every year along with bio-data and contribution made in terms of the item No.1 to item No.2 in the prescribed Performa. The award will be awarded every year if suitable candidates are recommended.

Evaluation:
The evaluation committee will come forward its recommendation to Hon. Gen. Secretary for approval of the Governing Council. In case evaluation committee feels that candidates who are recommended for the award are not suitable in that case evaluation committee may recommend not awarding any memento. Between any awards there should be a gap of minimum four years.

6. Best Unit Award :
(Instituted by Shri H.C. Jain)

This is awarded for all round best performance & activities done by the Bigger Units having more than 1000 membership during the year. The running shield is being awarded to one unit selected as best performing unit every year to be presented at the time of annual All India Textile Conference.

7. Best Unit Award :
(Instituted by Shri H.B. Chaturvedi)

This is awarded for smaller Unit having less than 1000 members for all round best performance & activities during the year. The running shield is being awarded to one unit selected as best performing unit every year to be presented at the time of annual All India Textile Conference.

Best Book Award :
(Instituted by Century Mills Ltd.)

This is awarded to the Author of the best textile book written during the year.
